• Lawyer listing inquiries — name, email, phone number, firm name, specialty, and city when a lawyer submits a listing request via the For Lawyers page. Note: this form is currently a demonstration feature and submissions are not transmitted or stored.
• Profile claim submissions — name, email, phone number, and bar number when a lawyer submits a profile ownership claim. This information is stored and used to verify the claim.
• Usage data — standard server logs including IP address, browser type, pages visited, and referring URLs, collected automatically when you access the site.
• Review content — ratings, titles, and written reviews you submit for lawyers listed in the directory. Reviews are displayed publicly on lawyer profile pages and may be read by the reviewed lawyer.

3. How We Use Your Information

• To operate and maintain the directory and user accounts.
• To display reviews you submit publicly on lawyer profile pages.
• To process and verify profile ownership claims.
• To respond to inquiries and support requests.

4. Canada's Anti-Spam Legislation (CASL)

We comply with Canada's Anti-Spam Legislation (CASL), S.C. 2010, c. 23. We will only send you commercial electronic messages (CEMs) if you have provided express or implied consent as defined by CASL. Each CEM we send will identify us, provide our contact information, and include a clear and simple unsubscribe mechanism. We will process unsubscribe requests within 10 business days as required by CASL.

5. Lawyer Profile Data

Lawyer profiles in this directory contain publicly available professional information including names, practice areas, cities, and Law Society membership links. This information is sourced from public records and Law Society directories. Under PIPEDA, lawyers whose information appears in this directory have the right to access and request correction of their profile data. If you are a lawyer and wish to correct, update, or remove your profile, please contact us at [email protected]. We will respond within 30 days as required by PIPEDA.

6. Cookies and Tracking

We use session cookies strictly necessary for authentication (login sessions). These cookies are essential to the operation of the site and do not require consent under applicable law. We do not currently use third-party advertising, analytics, or tracking cookies. If we introduce non-essential cookies in the future, this policy will be updated and a cookie consent notice will be displayed prior to any such cookies being set.

7. Data Retention

Account data and reviews are retained for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide services. Profile claim records are retained for a minimum of two years for audit and dispute resolution purposes. Server logs are retained for up to 90 days. You may request deletion of your account and associated data at any time by contacting us; we will process deletion requests within 30 days, subject to any legal retention obligations.

8. Data Breach Notification

In the event of a breach of security safeguards involving personal information that poses a real risk of significant harm to individuals, we will notify affected individuals and the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada as required by PIPEDA and the Breach of Security Safeguards Regulations. We maintain a record of all security breaches as required by law.

• Request correction of inaccurate, incomplete, or outdated information.

Our use of Google Maps links does not involve sharing your personal information with Google beyond what occurs through your own browser's interaction with those services.
